Radio System

The Ashland Fire Radio system is a Motorola Narrow Band FM repeater system. The system operates on the UHF frequency of 484.3875 megahertz.  The daily radio tone/alert test is conducted at 0800 every morning. The repeater input frequency has a positive offset of 3 megahertz.  There are 2 repeaters, located on Cedar Street and on Winter Street.  All department radios utilize a sub-audible tone (ctcss) of 230.0 hertz to eliminate interference. The satellite receiver system consists of  Motorola radio receivers. The receivers are located throughout the town. The radio signal received at each location is sent to the Communications Center on Cedar Street over telephone leased lines to be compared for signal quality. The best signal is then sent to the repeater. 

District 14 Radio Network
Ashland is responsible for the dispatch of  Fire District 14. The Fire District 14 radio system is used for mutual aid
purposes and multiple alarm incidents. The system operates on a VHF frequency of 33.980 megahertz and a PL tone of 127.3.
