Ashland and Hopkinton Firefighters are called to the Hopkinton State park for an injured sledder. The patient was located approximately 1500 feet from the nearest parking area. Firefighters had to carry the patient through 17 inches of snow to the waiting ambulance.

What looks to be whiteout conditions is actually the State Park Dam, where children often sled in the winter.

 

 

 

The patient, who was suffering C-spine injuries and hypothermia was extricated from the park in about 40 minutes.
